BEST IMAGES OF THE YEAR; this was taken in May 2019. When I got to Wheal Coates (St Agnes, Cornwall) I was disappointed that the light wasn't better; I was hoping for strong side lighting. Yet this image is even better than the one I visualised! Using a professional  tilt/shift lens allowed me to get maximum sharpness, and also to avoid the Engine House from having that dreadful 'falling over backwards' distorted look that normal wide angle lenses have. Got to love those Sea Pinks!

The result of careful planning; I wanted side lighting on Wheal Coates, good waves and some of the beach visible. The people were an unexpected bonus which give the image scale. It started selling straight away.

Last night at Cligga Head, Perranporth. The colour of these cliffs have to be seen to be believed! I had to wait some time for the sunlight, but it was well worth it. This wild part of the coast has rough paths close to the cliff edge, which means you almost get it to yourself

Time marches on, but Cornwall is always beautiful! Taken 25 years ago at Porth Nanven. Photographed using 6x6cm slide film; 12 pictures on a roll. Had to use a light meter to get the correct exposure, manual focus, manual everything, tripod only. Send it off for developing and hope the images come out okay. Waiting for the slides to come back 7 days later certainly built up the anticipation!
